Dear Lynn, Carly and Stephen (and kids), Beth and AJ (and kids), and all extended family: my first cognizant memory of Uncle Wayne goes back to about 4 years of age when he and Terry visited us in Ontario. Dad was happier than he'd ever been whenever his brother and nephews were around, and that happiness always extended to everyone around them: their laughter and joy was contagious. Uncle Wayne made people happy. He was kind, interesting, generous, and affectionate. He was admired and loved, and always will be. We are all so sorry for this great loss. Sending you all love and wishes for good memories to soon overcome grief.

I am so very sorry to hear of Wayne's passing. Wayne was a wonderful man. Wayne had a natural ability to bring a calmness with just his presence. I work for Skills Canada - Nova Scotia and in almost all of the moments I was privileged to have with Wayne I was at NSCC Pictou Campus for work, preparing for or facilitating a Skills event. With a simple smile Wayne had the ability to put me at ease, even when I was in a high stress situation.
Wayne will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege to know him. I am so sorry for your loss.

To Lynn & Family,
I had the honour of being a colleague of Wayne's for 15 years - we started together at Pictou Campus and I was involved in many. many projects with Wayne. His generosity, compassion and sensibility were foremost in his teaching career and his personal life. I would always be amazed that Wayne would start his students to work on Day 1. He had a unique ability to multi-task - balancing student projects, community projects and curriculum. There was never a challenge too difficult or a project that was not worthy of consideration. Students came first with Wayne and he became a true mentor to those he taught - regardless of age, gender or ability. My son is a graduate of Wayne's Cabinet Carpentry class and carries Wayne's lessons with him to this day.
Family was very important to Wayne as was his proud Scottish heritage and his links to Westville. At one point, we shared an office and included with the photos of Lynn, Carly and Beth was a photo of his father and uncle taken at the Hoover Dam construction, Nevada in the 1930s - 2 Westville coal miners, out of work, providing for their families - displayed by a proud son and father!
Wayne was an early riser and a few of us would meet at the campus daily, an hour or so before classes for a cup of coffee and a yarn. A perfect way to start a day.
I miss those morning coffees as I will miss Wayne - Pictou County has lost a true gentle-man.
Rest in peace my friend - I will keep you and you family in my prayers.
I can almost see you sizing up the projects in heaven...

Hello Beth and family, sincere condolences. I did not realize he worked at the Vocational. My father did also but I think he would have been retired before that. I saw a lot of similarities with my dad. He had a keen interest in helping his student, was a town councillor and volunteered in numerous groups over his lifetime. He was always interested in bettering his community like your dad. Looks like you dad had a very full and rewarding life. Take care.
