Obituary of Leander Francis MacKay
Stellarton: Leander “ Lee ” Francis MacKay of the Valley View Villa ,Riverton and formerly of Stellarton passed away peacefully on Sunday ,December1st ,2019 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital ,New Glasgow .Born in New Glasgow he was a son of the late Francis “Bud” and Patricia “Seb” (Whytewood ) MacKay. Lee was a lifelong resident of Stellarton. During his working career he was a long time employee of Michelin Tire and then went on to work for Gennoe’s Bakery before retiring. Lee enjoyed fishing ,reading ,baking ,the outdoors and also a good game of washer toss. Entertaining with good friends and family brought Lee great enjoyment .
Surviving are his wife of 44 years Jane (Turnbull ) . Sons : Clint MacKay (Kim Cholmondeley) of Westville and Brandon MacKay of Thorburn. Special grandson Carson MacKay. Sisters : Susan (Mike) Nugent of Trenton , Marsha Hetherington (Fraser MacLeod ) of Eureka , Patty Lloyd of Stellarton , Amy (Jerry) Rodgers of New Glasgow , brothers : Michael MacKay of New Glasgow , Phillip MacKay of Plymouth , Wayne (Deborah) MacKay of New Glasgow. Fur buddy Charley , several nieces , nephews and in-laws . Lee was predeceased by his parents and a granddaughter Mia Lee MacKay. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 P.M. on Thursday in the H.W.Angus Funeral Home 256 King St. New Glasgow ,from where a memorial service will be held on Friday at 11 A.M. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating . Burial will be in the Brookside Cemetery at a later date . Donations in memory of Lee may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Fund or to the Alzheimer Society . A reception will follow the service in the funeral home .
