Obituary of John Robert Carrigan

JOHN ROBERT CARRIGAN

John Robert Carrigan, 65, of Stellarton Road, New Glasgow, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2019 surrounded by family in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow and is now with Jesus.    

Born in New Glasgow on July 28, 1954  he was the youngest son of late Angus and Daisy (Fraser) Carrigan of MacPherson’s Mills. 

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne (Belliveau) and sons Andrew and Christopher (Danielle) of Providence, RI, grandchildren:  Piper and Gavin,  brother:  Dan, and sisters: Helen Anderson, Faye Mitchell (Lloyd), Vera Cleary, and Anna Fisher, brother-in-law Darrin Belliveau (Tina), sister-in-law Nicole Porter (Matthew), sister-in-law Mable, many nieces and nephews and father-in-law Andrew Belliveau and mother-in-law Bonnie Belliveau and his constant and protective 4 pound companion, Thor.  

He was predeceased by brothers:  Alexander, William and David, sister-in-law, Marie, brother-in-law, Mel Anderson

Bob was a truck driver and dispatcher for Connors Transfer for 18 years until illness forced him into early retirement.     He was a walking phone directory and could direct the drivers to the right door to deliver their loads to anywhere in North America day and night while dispatching.

Bobby liked everything about food.  His TV was always tuned to the cooking channels;  he was a very good cook and baker and always got food donated for Church camps and the Shepherd’s Lunch Soup Kitchen.  He has a turkey ordered for our family Christmas dinner this year. 

The family would like to thank the VON for their constant good care, Dr. Park, the palliative care doctor and nurses, the Aberdeen ER, the EHS, the air ambulance and the heart and diabetes doctors at the QE2, Yvonne and Drew who learned so much about caring for Bobby, his sister, Faye and brother, Dan, who visited every day, Pastors Bruce and Marlene Morrison and the prayer team at Christian Fellowship Church, and Connors Transfer for their support, and the many visitors and phone calls he enjoyed over the last years.

Visitation will be on Saturday, November 9, from 1:00 to 3:00 at Christian Fellowship Church on Abercrombie Road followed by the funeral service at 3pm with a reception to follow.
