Obituary of Dale Archibald MacDonald

MacDonald - Dale Archibald, age 62, Denver, Guysbrough County, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on October 26, 2019 in St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke after a courageous fight with cancer.

Born September 18, 1957 in New Glasgow, Pictou County, he was the son of George F MacDonald and the late Elsie (Archibald) MacDonald.

Dale worked alongside his father and, his brothers all his life in the family business George F MacDonald & Sons Ltd building roads with his Link-Belt, plowing snow with his beloved Mack and so much more. He loved being outdoors, driving his four-wheeler, spending time at his camp, taking drives in his Ford truck and tinkering around with his  Masey Tractor. Dale took great pride in being an active member and Elder of Bethany United Church and being on the board of Directors of the East River St Mary’s Fire Dept.

He is survived by his loving wife of thirty-four years, Michelle (Dobbin), his two beautiful daughters Katie(Dave Dunbar) MacDonald of Antigonish, Brittany( Cody) Jordan of Lochiel Lake. His greatest loves that made him the most proudest Papa, Charlotte, Olivia and Jack Dunbar; Loren Jordan. Siblings Doug (Brenda); Isabel(Glen) Tate; Joanne( Danny) Clifton; Melvin; Wayne; Robert(Lena); Marie Cameron; Kevin (Judy); Kathy( Allister) MacDonald; Allan; Sheldon(Lisa); Cheryl;  Mother In-Law Lorraine MacDonald and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his Mother, he was predeceased by his brother Ralph MacDonald; Sisters-in-law, Mary- Lou MacDonald and Phyllis MacDonald; and Father-in-Law Allie MacDonald.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be in Zion Presbyterian Church, East River St. Mary’s on Saturday from 2-4 and 6-8. Memorial Service will be held 2pm Sunday in Zion with Rev Derek Elsworth officiating.  Private family burial, in Valley View Cemetery.  A reception will follow in the East River St Mary’s Fire hall.
