Obituary of Richard Alexander Chisholm

Chisholm, Richard Alexander, 59 of New Glasgow formerly of Stellarton and Riverton passed away July 7, 2019 at home.
Born in New Glasgow he was a son of Jean(Munro)Chisholm and the late Duncan Chisholm.
Richard was a resident of new Glasgow for the past 6 months. As a child, he grew up in Riverton having attended Riverton, Hopewell and Eureka schools. He attended West Pictou District High School, later going on to attend the Pictou regional Vocational School where he studied Heavy Duty Mechanic. After leaving PRVS, he travelled to Western Canada where he worked for a number of years. Upon returning to Stellarton, he went on to work at the former Westray Mine.
After the mine explosion, he received the Governor General Award for Mine Rescue. He returned to Western Canada where he was employed with Badger Hydrovac, remaining there until 7 years ago.
Richard loved hunting and spending his free time at the camp at Loon lake in his younger years.
Surviving besides his mother Jean(Munro)Chisholm, Stellarton; is a son Brendon Baker, St. John’s, NL; a sister Wendy(brian)MacRae, Caribou River; brothers: Brent(Joanne)Chisholm, Meadford, Ontario; George(Vivian)Chisholm, Eureka; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father Duncan Chisholm, a sister Karen(Chisholm)Van Kessel and a nephew Joshua Chisholm.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors on Friday from 10am until the time of service at 11am both at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow with Rev. Karen Ross presiding. A reception will follow the service in the funeral home. Burial of ashes will take place in the Brookside Cemetery, New Glasgow.
