Obituary of Virginia Ann Heighton

Heighton, Virginia Ann- It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Virginia Ann Heighton on June 14, 2019 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Thorburn she was a daughter of the late Edward and Mary(Boutilier)Rogers.
Mama was a gentle, peaceful soul who loved everyone. With faith like a rock, she recited the Holy rosary and the Divine Chaplet of Mercy daily. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Our lady of Lourdes Catholic Women’s League and the Divine Chaplet of Mercy Prayer Group which was held at her home. She was an avid knitter, crocheter and gardener, and enjoyed spending hours looking at her photo albums.
She was employed at the Valley View Villa in Riverton from where she retired.
Mama loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: Wayne(Cher), Stellarton; Henry(Darbe), Stellarton; Darrell(Teri), Trenton; Lorraine Heighton, Stellarton; Carol MacDonald(Wade Robichaud), French River; Sharon Heighton, Linacy; Michelle Lemmon, Stellarton; Heather(Darren)Wilson, Upper tantallon; 16 grandchildren;5 great-grandchildren; brothers: jerry Rogers, Thorburn; Roy Rogers, Stellarton; a sister Kathleen Vacheresse, Thorburn; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Henry, brothers: Frank, Harry, Ted; sisters: Rita Gynes, Patricia McCann, Christine Urquhart and Willena Rogers, a son-in-law David Lemmon.
Her remains will rest in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel, Stellarton for visiting from 2-4 and 7-9pm Monday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2pm Tuesday from Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton with Father Barrett Clare-Johnson and Father Peter MacDonald con- celebrating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
