Prestara,Anthony Charles,age 93,passed away peacefully in the Aberdeen Hospital,New Glasgow on May17,2019,after a brief illness. Born in Whitney Pier,he was the son of the late Joseph and Muriel(Peterson)Prestara. Tony resided in Sydney River for most of his adult life, and would later retire to a lake house in Blackett's Lake to enjoy nature which was dear to his heart.Dad had relocated to New Glasgow in 2017 to be near his daughter as his health had taken a decline. Tony was predeceased by his wife Amelia,sister Carol Ann,brother Michael. He is survived by daughter Sharon(Brent Stone), brothers Jimmy(Joan),Joey(Louise)and sister Mary Corazza.Brother-in-laws,John Rolls (Diane) Alex (Juanita),nieces Shelly Cook and Mickey Purdy,nephews,Joe Prestara and Stephen Moore. Tony worked for over forty- five years for Modern City Dairy.When retirement called he enjoyed many wonderful fishing trips,tending a large vegetable garden and spending time on the deck with his cherished wife ,Amelia.Dad and Mom always looked foreword to the many roadtrips to New Glasgow to visit Sharon and Brent at Melmerby Beach. Dad loved people and hearing about their everyday lives was of endless joy to him.He was gifted with the ability to connect with anyone who would stop and talk to him and we are grateful for all who took the time to share their stories. A kind,loving husband,father,brother and friend who was happiest helping anyone in need.He will forever be in our hearts. There will be no visitation for the late Mr. Prestara. A funeral service will be held at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel on Tuesday May,28 at 1 p.m. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery,Sydney Forks Family flowers only Donations to a charity of your choice. angusfuneralhomes.com
