Frederick "Fred" William Auld age 92 formerly of Thorburn passed away May 5, 2019 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Thorburn, NS he was a son of the late Robert William and Mae Gertrude (MacInnis) Auld. He was a resident of Thorburn most of his life. He worked in the lumbering business for many years as well as the Pictou Shipyards, he later went to work at Eastern Car Ltd., in Trenton then with Warren Maritimes and the Dept of Transportation. He is survived by a daughter Jean MacLeod, Stellarton; son Allan (Linda) Auld, MacPherson’s Mills ; loving partner Sybil Higgins and her children Barbara Robertson , Brian(Debbie) Higgins and Marilyn Higgins (Sandy Rundle) ; 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; sisters Jean (John) Reid, New Glasgow; Betty Lou Semple, New Glasgow; Vera (Mike) Pettipas, Thorburn; brother Frank (Muriel), Ontario; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Raymond, sister Pearl Munro. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Thursday, May 9, 2019 in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, May 10, 2019 in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Caroline Barclay officiating. Burial will be in Thorburn Cemetery. Family flowers only.
