John James 'Jack' Duggan
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John 'Jack' Duggan of Stellarton. Late on the evening of March 23, 2019, surrounded by his family, Jack/Dad/Poppy passed away at the Aberdeen Hospital, after a very brief illness. Born on September 8, 1936, he was the son of the late John Dan and Florence Duggan (Gladney).
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Duggan, daughters; Debbie Guthro (Dan), Kathy Greene (Gary), Sandra Ormrod (Mike), sons; Jimmie (Lynn) and Whit (Kirsten), grandchildren; Angela, Daniel, Samantha, Katelyn, Jillian, Tyson, Gary, Jenna, Hannah, JJ, Sean, great grandchildren; Caleb, Jase, Chloe, Olivia, brother Paddy Duggan (Isabel) and sisters Florence Marshall (Albert) and Joan MacEachern (Barry), as well as many neices, nephews and friends. He was recently predeceased by his great friend and brother, Wayne MacDonald.
Jack was an employee of Trenton Works and later went on to work for Jim's Taxi, a job he loved. He was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for fishing and hunting. He loved to share his many stories with anyone who would listen. Jack was a quiet and kind man who was always ready and willing to help anyone in need. Of all his loves, his greatest was that of his family. He loved them each deeply and he will be greatly missed by all of them.
Jack's remains will be resting at HC MacQuarrie Funeral Home in Stellarton on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 from 6-9pm. Cremation to follow. A service and celebration of Jack's life will take place in the chapel at HW Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow, on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at 11am with Rev Andrew MacDonald officiating.
The family wishes to thank the many nurses and doctors in Emergency as well as ICU for their incredible care and compassion they showed to all of us during this difficult time. Donations in Jack's memory can be made to Autism Pictou County in honor of his beloved great grandson. A reception will follow the service in the funeral home.
We will love and miss you forever
