Obituary of E. Brundage MacDonald

E. Brundage MacDonald- It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear father E. Brundage MacDonald, from sickness and frailty to joy and freedom with his Lord, reunited with our beloved mother, Ella, the love of his life for 73 years on March 21, 2019 at his home. He was born at Hardwood Hill Pictou County, son of the late Kenneth John MacDonald and Lily Belle Grant. Dad was a man of quiet dignity and strength who lived his life to the fullest extent with deep love of his family and the extended family he discovered as he searched his Scottish heritage, which he held dear. Throughout his 97 years he had many accomplishments and took on his various responsibilities with integrity and passion. In 1942 he served in the Canadian Army in Holland and Belgium, until he was wounded in action in 1945. After the war he worked as a carpenter for the former Fraser, Mason & Fraser Ltd., until 1951 when he went to work with Robert Higgins Construction Company Ltd., in Trenton as Superintendent. When he retired in 1984, the fun really began when Dad & Mom, together conducted the "Min-u-ettes Round Dance Club" for 25 years. He was also an elder of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (The Kirk), New Glasgow, NS, the oldest & longest member of Western Star Masonic Lodge No. 50 in Westville and an active member of Clan Donald. He is survived by son Gordon (Veronica), New Glasgow, daughter Karen (Cornelius Mouris), Moncton, NB; grandchildren Melissa (Christoph), Gordie (Chrissie); Charles (Darlene), Heidi (Adam); Katy (Shane); great grandchildren Ella, Zoe, Vincent; Liam, Malcolm and Kenzie and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by youngest son Allan, brothers George, Ian, Harry, Allan, Donald and sisters Evelyn, Violet and Edith. His remains will rest in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow for visiting from 2-4 and 7-9pm Saturday(today). Funeral services will be held 3pm Sunday from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow with Rev. Dr. Joon Ki Kim presiding. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will take place in the Durham Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Christian Blind Mission Society, the St. Andrew’s Sustainability Fund or a charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank the incredible Palliative Home Care staff, and all the compassionate care givers from Care Force and especially Kathleen, Mary and Cathy.
