Obituary of Kathleen MacKay

Kathleen "Kaye" Caroline MacKay – age 89 of the Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou formerly of Willowdale and MacPherson’ Mills passed away on March 3, 2019. Born in Antigonish on Nov. 5, 1929 she was a daughter of the late John Henry and Janie (Cruickshank) Jordan. Kaye had taught school in Lochaber and Indian Harbour, she also along with her husband Raymond ran J.J. MacKay & Son store in Willowdale for many years. She was member of Union Presbyterian Church in Thorburn where she was very involved in church activities, served as Sunday School Superintendent, a member of Sunlight Rebekah Lodge, MacPherson’s Mills Women’s Institute and was also a cub scout leader. Kaye was very involved in community activities. She is survived by her daughter Wendy MacLean, MacPherson’s Mills; sons Colin MacKay, Willowdale; Glenn (Kim) MacKay, Willowdale; Sandy (Judy) MacKay, Willowdale; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; brother Bill (Virginia) Jordan, New Glasgow; son-in-law Robbie Livingstone, MacPherson’s Mills She was predeceased by her husband Raymond, daughter Cindy, grandson Ricky Livingstone, daughter-in-law Ruth Mackay Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Thursday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. A reception will follow the service in the funeral home. Burial will be in MacPherson’s Mills Cemetery at a later date.
