Obituary of Vickie Roberta MacLeod

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vickie Roberta MacLeod, 54, of Mountville, Pictou County, on January 8th, 2019, at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born July 7th, 1964, to loving parents Eddie and Barbara (Cyr) MacLeod, Vickie grew up to be the tiniest member of the family amongst her 3 sisters and 6 brothers. Always with a cheerful disposition, her quick wit and humour helped her overcome many reoccurring bouts of illness after she was diagnosed with Lupus as a teenager. Vickie resided all her life on the family farm on Mountville, and could often be found sharing a good cup of hot tea with friends, family, or neighbours who stopped in. Vickie was a loving aunt, or "other mother", to her nieces and nephews, and considered them her chosen children. Her love for kids earned her a special spot in the hearts of the little people she loved, some of the smallest even referring to her as "Princess Gickie." She is survived by sisters Bernadette, of Mountville, Linda, and Sharon (Ron) Grant of MacLellan’s Brook; brothers Terry, Mike, John and Allan, of Mountville, and David (Stacy) of Plymouth Park; chosen siblings Karen (Shawn) Young, of Plymouth, and Scotty (Heather) MacDonald, of MacLellan’s Brook; nephews Shane (Angela) MacLeod, Justin MacLeod (Sandra), Chad Dewtie (Honey), and Travis MacLeod; nieces Alecia (Steve) MacKay, Sarah (Mike) Meyer, Chelsea MacLeod (Clinton); great-nieces and nephews Abby, Isaac, Edison and James; and goddaughter Emily Young. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Edward, and sister-in-law Neilla MacLeod. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Sunday, January 13, 2019 in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 11 am in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating.
