Crocker, George Lloyd- It is with heavy hearts, we announce the loss of our loving husband, father, grandfather and friend George Lloyd Crocker who passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit at the Aberdeen Hospital, surrounded by his family after a long battle with Heart Disease and Cancer. Born in St. John’s,Nfld on July 23, 1942, he was a son of the late Greta (Max) Lawrence and Gordon Lloyd Crocker. George was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Newfoundland Constabulary. In 2001 he retired from the Trenton Police Department with over 25 years of service. After retirement, he worked part-time with the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires and could regularly be found at the Department of Motor Vehicles. With his faith in the Lord, he was an active member of the church, and enjoyed singing gospel music with others. Never idle, George always found ways to keep himself busy. He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry and many other home improvement projects. George was always ready to share one of his stories (all of them true!) with anyone willing to listen. Most of all, he loved the outdoors and was happiest when he found himself out hunting and fishing. George is survived by his wife Joan Crocker (MacIver) of 44 years, sons Christopher (Maggie), Brent (Cindy), Aaron (Annie) and Gavin (Stephanie), daughter Debbie (Blair), grandchildren Zoe, Corey, Crystal, Brandon and his very special Alexis. Brother Jim (Barb) Lawrence, chosen sister Pauline Skanes, sisters-in-law Ruth Ann and Joyce, several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his mother, father and stepfather. Special thanks to all his doctors - Rowicka, Couban, Styles, nurses at the Heart Function Clinic at the QEII. A memorial service will be held 2pm Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church, Hopewell with Rev. Bonnie Langille presiding. A reception will follow in the church hall. There will be a private family burial at the Riverton Cemetery In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Lodge that Gives, Halifax, or to the Palliative Care Unit, Aberdeen Hospital. www.angusfuneralhomes.com
