New Glasgow ; Donald Gerard Gardiner age 82 of Abercrombie Rd. New Glasgow passed away on Thursday June 21 ,2018 in the Aberdeen Hospital ,New Glasgow. Born in Sydney Mines, Donnie was a son of the late Hector and Clara (MacSween) Gardiner. He was a resident of New Glasgow since 1969. Donnie worked as an accountant during working career for various car dealerships . He was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus . An avid sports fan Donnie enjoyed going to St.F.X for various sporting events. Surviving are a daughter Karen Gardiner of Halifax , a son Donald (Kimberley) Gardiner of the Cayman Islands ,grandchildren Grace , Madison and Jackson , his former wife Margaret Gardiner of New Glasgow ,a sister Audrey Cameron of New Glasgow, a brother Robert (Bob) Gardiner of New Glasgow several nieces and nephews He was predeceased by sisters Mary Houle and Grace Amelia Pigeon , brothers Dr. William (Bill) Gardiner , Raymond Gardiner , Albert Gardiner , Rev Harold (Howie) Gardiner , Roy Gardiner , Frederick Gardiner and Kevin Gardiner. Funeral service will be held on Monday June 25 ,2018 at 11 A.M. from St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church with Father Tom MacNeil officiating. A reception will follow the service in the church hall. Burial will take place at a later date . Donations in memory of Donnie may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Fund , St.F.X.
