Constance Loretta Murphy age 69, of MacLellan’s Brook passed away on April 10, 2018 in the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit with her family by her side. Born in New Glasgow she was a daughter of the late Constance and Loretta (MacLaughlin) Hayden. Connie was a resident of MacLellan’s Brook for many years. She was a member of the former St. Gregory’s Roman Catholic Church in New Glasgow. Connie was a long time employee of Kmart having worked there for over 20 years until its doors shut in 1998. Her love of sewing and crafting brought her to Atlantic Fabrics thereafter. There she would happily share her passion and knowledge with customers of all skills levels, teaching many in-store classes and creating pieces for display until her retirement in 2015. Connie was perhaps best known among her friends and for her love of quilting producing many memorable pieces large and small. She shared her talent and passion for creating beautiful pieces as a valued member of the Thistle Quilt Guild. She is survived by her sons Glen Murphy (June Roberts), Telford; Scott Murphy, CD, Ottawa; 3 grandchildren Mariah Murphy (Troy Retieffe), Tristan Murphy and Allison Murphy; 2 great-grandchildren Nora and Nate. She was predeceased by her husband Brenton Murphy, son Paul Murphy, brothers Jack and Harry and a sister Karen. Visitation will be from 6-9 pm on Friday April 13, 2018 in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Saturday, April 14, 2018 in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with Father Barrett Clare-Johnson presiding. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Thorburn. Donations in memory of Connie may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society or the Canadian Cancer Society. www.angusfuneralhomes.com When I have come to the end of the road, And the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room Why cry for a soul set free. Miss me a little but not too long, And not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared Miss me-but let me go. For this is a journey we all must take, And each must go alone. It’s all part of the Master’s plan A step on the road to home, When you are lonely and sick at heart, Go to the friends we know, And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds Miss me-but let me go.
