Obituary of John Joseph Harnett

John Harnett age 57 of Pictou, NS formerly of Lord’s Cove, Newfoundland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the Palliative Care Unit in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, NS John was surrounded by his loving wife Susan Treby-Harnett, and his children Nicole, Stephanie and John, his twin brother Gerard Harnett was also with them at this time. John is predeceased by his son Cory Harnett, and his parents Bertram and Melinda Harnett, his in laws Vernon and Joan Treby. John is survived by his sisters Vivian Herlidan, Jeanette (Robert) Drake and Ruth (Keith) Stapleton, as well, as his brothers Calvin Harnett and Gerard Harnett. All who knew John knew that he worked hard and played hard. John took every opportunity to give his heart to all he could help. His favorite pastime always involved being with his family and friends. His biggest passions in life were hunting at camps and fishing; he yearned to go tuna fishing every year. John was dedicated to doing his best in every career he took. He gave 100% to jobs with DND Steward, Canadian Coast Guard Cook, M.V. Osprey Cook, Superport Marine Cook and Secunda Cook. John’s time, spent fishing lobster, crab, scallops and herring was always enjoyed by him. John will be dearly missed by all his friends and family. At John’s request cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until the time of a memorial service at 3:00 pm on Friday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow with Father Colin MacKinnon presiding.
