New Glasgow
June Evelyn (Gillis) O’Hanley , 82 of New Glasgow :
It is with great sadness we would like to let family and friends know that our mother passed away peacefully on Dec 27, 2017 surrounded by her loving daughters, Valerie, Debbie, Susan and Kathy as Mom wished.
Born May 23, 1935 in Stellarton she was a daughter of the late John Roy and Dolly (Doris) Evelyn (Walton) Grealey. She will be sadly missed and remembered by those left behind. Mom spoke fondly of her earlier years spent working with the "girls" at the "Coffee Pot". She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in New Glasgow where she loved to spend Saturday’s dancing the night away to her favorite tunes, happy we had the chance to enjoy a few nights there.
Daughters; Valerie MacKenzie, Loch Broom Loop; Debbie Arab (Eddy), Susan Caldwell ,Kathy Deagle (Steve) and Michelle Gray all of Halifax; a son Graham O’Hanley, New Glasgow; sisters: Shirley Grealey, Joyce Munroe (Everett) and Lainey Osborne, grandchildren; Jeannie ,Samantha, Dalton, Jacob, Jayme -Lynn, Tommy, David, Lisa and Stephanie, numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was predeceased by a sister Vivian (Ross) Isenor, brothers Billy, Freddy, Doug, Leonard and Bobby.
Our heartfelt gratitude to the amazing staff on the 5th floor Palliative Care Unit at the Aberdeen Hospital.
Special thanks to nurses John, Liz, Sam and others involved in making this transition peaceful.
Cremation has taken place.
There will be no visitation at this time.
A celebration of June’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.
