Obituary of Douglas Henry Austin

Douglas Henry Austin age 84 of Stellarton passed away on December 18, 2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow he was a son of the late Henry and Lillian (Gordon) Austin.
Doug has been a resident of Stellarton all of his life. He was a member of Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton. Doug worked in the MacGregor and McBean coal mines and later went to work at Michelin Tire for 20 years from where he retired. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and many drives with his faithful companion Helga.
He is survived by his wife Judy (Hepburn), Stellarton; daughter Cathy (James) Rector, MacLellan’s Mountain; son David, Middle Sackville; brothers Bob (Mary) Austin, Westville; Wayne (Donna) Austin, Stellarton; sister-in-law Gloria Austin, Halifax; brother-in-law Hubert Conway, Tatamagouche and his special companions Helga, Georgia and Noel.
He was predeceased by brother Jim and sister Jean.
The family will receive friends from 10 am – 11 am on Saturday, December 23, 2017 in Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton. Memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, December 23, in Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton with Rev. Darlene Jewers officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
