Frank Joseph Denny, 90, of Cemetery Road, Pictou Landing First Nation, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 1st at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was a lifelong resident of Pictou Landing First Nation where he was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church. Frank was born in Restigouche, Québec, March 20, 1927. Son of the late Michael Denny (Dada Mike) and the late Martha (Martin) Denny. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Martha (Francis) Denny, son in infancy, grandson Dabish, granddaughter Priscilla, daughter in law Audrey, son in law Alden Francis. Brother’s Albert, Gordon, Gregory and sister in law Anne Denny. He is survived by his brother Olding Murray (Betty) of Chance Harbour and Aunt Dorothy Bernard of Pictou Landing. He is survived by son’s Kevin, Wayne (Bev), Sandy, Gary (Michelle), Frank Jr. (Cheryl) and David. Daughters, Helen (Mike), Elaine, Darlene (Mohammed), Diane, all of Pictou Landing First Nation; 36 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Frank was a lifetime member of the Trenton Legion, Branch 29. He served with the Army of the United States in 1945 in World War II. He also served in the Canadian Army and in the Korean War in 1951. Frank was honorably discharged from the army and received a Korea medal, United Nations Service medal and an Ambassador of Peace medal. Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing bingo/cards and spending quality time with the family. He worked in the Pictou Shipyard and in the community as a laborer. Frank will be greatly missed and loved. His remains will rest at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Pictou Landing First Nation after 2 pm on Saturday, November 4, 2017 from where Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Monday, November 6, 2017 with father Tom MacNeil presiding. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
