Obituary of Edith Muriel MacInnis

Please share a memory of Edith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Edith MacInnis 1926 -2017 On Sunday, October 22Edith Muriel (Langille) MacInnis, 91, Debert Court, Debert, Nova Scotia left this world for a reunion with loved ones who have gone before; son Dana, husband Murray, parents Stuart and Theodosia Langille; brothers Ashford and Donald, son-in-law Donald Parker, and special friend, Donald Curtis. She grew up in River John, NS and trained as a teacher at the Normal College in Truro. She married Murray in 1945. The couple with their two small children moved to Melrose, NS in 1948. In 1965 they bought the Eleven Mile House, Melrose, from the Estate of W.C. Stewart. It was Edith's home until 2015, and a favourite vacation spot for her grandchildren in their growing up years. She was a member of Glenelg Presbyterian Church. Edith taught elementary school at East River St. Mary’s and taught mathematics and other subjects at St. Mary’s Rural High School for many years. During that time she upgraded her teachers licence to a TC6 by attending classes at St. Francis Xavier in the evenings and summer. A highlight was a trip with her St. F.X. class to Ireland in 1975. Over the years, her X ring prompted conversations from others who had also attended St. F.X. After losing Murray, Edith was blessed with a twenty-five year friendship with Don Curtis. They looked forward to Friday evenings together for dinner and playing Scat, and Sunday afternoon drives and a restaurant meal, or Sunday evenings with the St. Mary’s Male Choir. Edith is survived by her daughter, Gloria Parker (Hilden), grandson Troy Parker (Toronto), granddaughters Robyn Parker (Whitehorse) and Kelsi Parker (Hilden), and nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff of Debert Court for your kindness to Edith. The celebration of her life will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, October 28, in the Glenelg Presbyterian Church, with Debbie Stewart officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Aspen. Family flowers only. Memorial gifts may be made to a charity of your choice. www.angusfuneralhomes.com
