Alfred MacMillan Freeman Obituary

Alfred MacMillan Freeman age 91 of Greenwood, Pictou County passed away September 26, 2017 at home. Born in Isaac’s Harbour he was a son of the late Louis Allen and Jennie Buckley (MacMillan) Freeman.


Alfred attended school in New Glasgow and later joined the Royal Canadian Airforce where he served for 3 years.


He worked as an automobile mechanic (Ford) for 20 years at Vee-Eight Motors, New Glasgow then became a stationary engineer with Trenton Generating Station, N.S.P.C. from which he retired after 25 years.


His hobbies were target shooting, boating, snowmobiling. He was a member of the Royal William Yacht Club, Thistle Handgun Club and he loved country music.


He is survived by his partner and wife of 57 years Doris M. (Malcolm) Freeman, Greenwood; son James Edwin Freeman (Denise), Trenton; daughters Janet Arlene MacLean (Craig), Hopewell; Cindy Lou Freeman (Kenny Burgess), New Glasgow; grandchildren Jeremiah, Jennifer (Zackery) Wilson, Kayla and Kurtis MacAulay, Jonathan, Ashley (Gregg Watters), Vanessa MacLean, great-granddaughter Gemma Wilson, many nieces and nephews, sister Agnes, Ontario.


Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister Marian Gunn, brother Ed Freeman and grandson James Freeman.


The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm on Saturday, September 30, 2017 in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, October 1, 2017 in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
