Obituary of Donna C. Jessop

Donna Christine Jessop age 65 of MacLellan’s Mountain passed away on August 22, 2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow she was a daughter of the late Hugh Elmer and Mary Catherine (MacDonald) Burns. Donna was a resident of the North End in New Glasgow before moving to MacLellan’s Mountain. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow. Donna had worked for Fry’s Bakery, Beltone and later with MT&T Ltd from where she retired. She was an avid bowler in the Sunday Night Bowling League and the Tuesday Morning Bowling League, she was also an associate member of the Goldwing Motorcycle Club and the Pictou County Motorcycle Cruisers Club. Donna is survived by her husband Roy Jessop, MacLellan’s Mountain; daughters Mary Carrigan, New Glasgow; Melissa Carrigan, Telford grandchildren Jamie Christene Carrigan, Riley Quinn Carrigan and Madison Jean Catherine Carrigan-Rector; step-sons Henry (Frances) Jessop, New Glasgow; Francis (Christine) Jessop, Halifax; brothers David Burns, Thorburn; James (Jean) Burns, New Glasgow; sister-in-law Marielle Burns and her children Jill and Julie. She was predeceased by her brother Kenneth Burns. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Thursday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Friday in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow with father Tom MacNeil presiding. Cremation will follow with burial in the Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only.
