Stellarton/Halifax:
MacKinnon, Ronald Wayne, 68 of Stellarton formerly of Halifax passed away Friday July 7, 2017 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow he was the son of the late Charles "Chuck" and Carole(Cox)MacKinnon.
Ron could be found with his grandkids at the soccer field, ballfields or the hockey rinks. Ron enjoyed spending time at the woodlot with his late father-in-law Bob.
Ron and Heather enjoyed living the mountain life with his sons in Alberta and British Columbia. From behind the bench coaching to sideline coaching, Ron loved his sports especially the Boston Bruins. He was very proud and deserving of his 4 lovely grandchildren: Cameron, Maxsim, Myla Jane and Layla. Ron led a quiet life in humility.
He is survived by his wife the former Heather MacRae, Stellarton; sons: Jason(Janet), grandchildren Cameron and Maxsim, Stellarton; Criag(Chelsea), granddaughter Layla, British Columbia; Marc(Laura), granddaughter Myla Jane, Alberta; mother-in-law Helen MacRae, Pictou; special aunt Ann Callaghan and her 4 sons Michael, Jeffrey, Dale and Aaron, several brothers-in -law and sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8pm Wednesday at the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel, Stellarton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2pm Thursday from Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton with Father Barrett Clare-Johnson presiding.
Donations in memory of Ron may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Palliative Care Society of the Aberdeen Hospital.
