Obituary of Mike Hurford

New Glasgow / Glencoe : George Oscar "Mike" Hurford age 77 of New Glasgow and formerly of Glencoe passed away on Sunday July 9th ,2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital ,New Glasgow.
Born in Verdun , Quebec he was the son of the late Oscar F. and Marion (Sharples) Hurford.
Mike served with the Royal Canadian Navy for 31 years. After retirement he went to work for UNISYS from where he completed his working life.
Mike and Sandra settled in Glencoe where they lived for 20 years. He was an active member of the Union #30 Oddfellows Lodge, also a member of Br#34 Royal Canadian Legion and was a former Volunteer Fireman with East River Valley Fire Dept. Mike enjoyed the outdoors fishing , hunting and gardening. He attended St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving are his wife the former Sandra MacDonald
Sons : Kirk (Kim)of Abercrombie and Craig of Dartmouth
His fur babies Caber and Buddy.
The family will receive visitors from 7-9 P.M. on Thursday in the H.W.Angus Funeral Home ,256 King St. New Glasgow. A private family service will be held at a later date.
Donations in memory of Mike may be made to the Palliative Care Society of the Aberdeen Hospital or to Pictou County VON
