Obituary of Sebastian Vlemmas

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sebastian Vlemmas, age 72. He passed away May 3, 2017 at Ivey’s Terrace Nursing Home, Trenton, after a lengthy and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Sebastian was born in Aigio, Greece on November 8, 1944 and moved to New Glasgow, Canada in 1971. He was well known for owning and operating Sam’s Pizza, Trenton and many of his customers referred to him as "Sam". Sebastian was predeceased by his parents, George and Panagiota; in-laws, George and Constandina; brother-in-law, Andy; sisters-in-law, Dina and Christine. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Demetria; son George (Sasha); daughter Potula (Dennis); cherished granddaughters, Adara and Ava; brother John (Rina), sisters Maria (Nick) and Dina (George); sisters-in-law Helen (John) and Rita; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place on Monday, May 8, 2017 from 11 am – 1 pm in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A family service and reception will follow with father Peter from the Greek Orthodox Church, Purcell’s Cove , Halifax presiding. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Ivey’s Terrace Nursing Home for their kindness and support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Sebastian may be made to the Parkinson’s Society or the Greek Orthodox Church, 38 Purcell’s Cove, Halifax. www.angusfuneralhomes.com
