Obituary of Robert Gallant

Lorne : Robert Joseph Gallant age 90 of Lorne ,Pictou County passed away on Sunday April 2 ,2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital ,New Glasgow. Born in Waterford, PEI he was the son of the late Patrick and Alice (Jones) Gallant. Bob was a resident of Lorne since 1962 He was a former employee of D. Porter and Son and retired from J.J. Grant Building Supplies. Bob was a professional boxer (featherweight/lightweight) He was a member of the Pictou County Sports Hall of Fame. Bob was an avid bowler and card player . Bob was a member of First Presbyterian Church ,Hopewell where he was an Elder and part of the church session. He was past president and vice president of the Lorne Community Hall . He was the youngest of 18 children. Surviving are daughters: Deborah (Toney) Mountenay of Ont Susan (Douglas) Roddick of Lorne Sherri (Paul )Cooper of Lawrencetown Sons: Robert (Lilliana) of Calgary Patrick (Claudette) of Elmsdale Richard (Verna) of Stellarton A number of grandchildren and great grandchildren A sister Anne Bruce of Charlottetown He was predeceased by his wife the former Ruth Chappell A number of brothers and sisters The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Wednesday in the H.W.Angus Funeral Home, 256 King St. New Glasgow Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2pm from the First Presbyterian Church, Hopewell with Bonnie Langille officiating. Burial will be in the Lorne Cemetery. A reception will follow the service in the church hall. Donations may be made in memory of Bob to the First Presbyterian Church, Hopewell.
