Obituary of Matthew Bernard

March 17, 2017. Bernard, Matthew Joseph, 52 of Pictou Landing First Nation passed away March 15, 2017 at home. Born in Framingham, Massachusetts he was a son of Mary Gladys Bernard. Matthew was a resident of Pictou Landing First Nation for the past 25 years having previously resided in Truro and Massachusetts. He worked at many trades during his life, loved his children and grandchildren, enjoyed hunting, fishing, long drives with his children and spending time with his grandkids whom he was very proud of. Surviving besides his mother Mary Bernard, Pictou Landing First Nation are his children Matthew Paul, Pictou Landing First Nation; Larissa Paul, Indian Brook; Latisha Paul, Indian Brook; 3 grandchildren Lyam, Sandra and Riley; sisters Kelly Martin, Arizona; Cynthia Bernard, Dartmouth; godmother Bernadette Bernard. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents William and Annie(Syliboy)Bernard, several aunts and uncles. His remains will rest at Our Lady of Perpetual Roman Catholic Church, Pictou Landing First Nation for visiting after 2pm Saturday from where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held 3pm Monday with Father Tom MacNeil presiding. Cremation to follow with burial of ashes at a later date in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
