Obituary of June MacKay

Thelma "June" MacKay, age 82 , of East River Manor ,New Glasgow ,N.S., formerly of Riverton ,N.S., passed away peacefully on January 22 ,2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital ,New Glasgow.
Born in New Harbour ,N.S., she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Mabel Sangster. June was born and grew up in New Harbour and then was along -time resident of Riverton.
June worked as a PCW at the Aberdeen Hospital and while doing that, worked to receive her nursing assistant certificate which she was very proud of. She and husband Doug operated a store in Drumhead and later in Trenton. June loved music, especially country, as well, loved travelling with her husband enjoying many adventures on the motorcycle. She was a caring, fun-loving, generous daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend.
She is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 55 years, Douglas (Dougie), Glen Haven Manor; brothers Watson (Jean), New Glasgow; Alex, New Glasgow; special caring niece Sonya Sangster, Stellarton; brother-in-law Wilburt MacKay, Glen Haven Manor; sister-in-law Joyce Peterson, Waterville; and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces/nephews and great great-nieces/nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Genesta Uloth, Dorothy Sangster, Gertrude Sangster; sisters-in-law Irma Sangster & Marion Dickie, and brothers-in-law Roscoe Uloth, Elliott Sangster, Stewart Sangster, Carl Peterson & Guy Dickie.
The family would like to express our thanks to June's best friends at East River Manor, Evelyn Willett & Helen Christie, for the countless hours of companionship and comfort they showed to June. Also, to Donna Pye, who gave of herself to help June in many ways throughout the last year, and to the cleaning & kitchen staff of East River Manor, we thank you for always looking out for June when needed.
Visitation will be from 7-9 pm on Thursday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow with Rev. Dr. Morley Shaw officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Riverton Cemetery. Family flowers only.
