Works, Edith Veronica of Stellarton passed away December 23, 2016 with her family at her side after a brief battle with Leukemia.
Born January 11th,1937 in Herring Cove, NS., she was a daughter of the late Alex and Mildred (Brophy) Pye.
Mom was a wonderful woman with very strong faith and loved nothing more than being surrounded by her family. She enjoyed travelling and being very stylish, she also liked to dress up and go dancing. Yelling "Bingo" also gave her great enjoyment. Mom was a very hard worker and retired from the NS Community College. She was a member of Branch 34 New Glasgow Legion. Left to mourn her are her loving sister Eileen Latter, Fletchers Lake and sons Orrin Works (Debbie Greene), New Glasgow; Russell Works Jr. (Denise Martell), Halifax; daughters Catherine Robson (Norman), New Glasgow; Trina Goodwin (Dave),Westville. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and sixteen great- grandchildren as well as her Aunt Rita Gates, Herring Cove. Mom also leaves many great friends and extended family to mourn her passing. She will also be sadly missed by her little dog Maggie.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Russell Works and granddaughter Rachel Works Rawn.
Visitation will be held at the H.C. MacQuarrie Furneral Chapel, Stellarton on Monday January 16th from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 11am Tuesday January 17th from Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton with Father Barrett Clare-Johnson celebrant and Father Peter MacDonald con-celebrating. A reception will follow at The Sister Catherine Steele Centre. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date at the Brookside Cemetery, New Glasgow.
Donations to the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital would be greatly appreciated in recognition of the amazing care Mom received during her stay.
