Obituary of Jean Scott-MacKinnon

Scott-MacKinnon, Jean Elizabeth, 72 of Stellarton(Riverton), passed away peacefully November 20, 2016 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow surrounded by family and friends.
Born April 14, 1944 in New Glasgow she was a daughter the late Harry and Mae(Porter)MacDonald.
She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and beloved grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandmother to her great-granddaughter.
She was a life-long member of Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton.
Jean retired from Maritime Tel and Tel after many years of service and then volunteered as a "Big Sister" with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Pictou County.
Jean had a passion for life and loved to attend dances with her husband Errol. She was also an avid bowler, having participated in bowling leagues for many years and continued to bowl with her husband, even while dealing with Parkinson’s Disease.
Anyone who knew Jean recognized her love of animals, particularly her dogs, Shambie, Maggie, Jiggs, Riley and Scamper, ensuring their scheduled trips to their groomers and a life full of love.
Jean loved spending time at her cottage at Lochaber Lake and often spoke of the peace and tranquility she found being at the cottage.
Jean is survived by her husband, Errol MacKinnon, her children, Crystal(Kevin), Guelph, Ontario; Robin McKay, New Glasgow; Tanya(David)Priddle, North Carolina; Paul, Stellarton; and Shaun(Natalie), Guelph, Ontario; a brother Harold MacDonald(Helen), New Brunswick, nine grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, five nieces and nephews.
Jean was predeceased by her first husband Clifford Beryl Scott and an infant son.
Her remains will rest at the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel, Stellarton for visiting from 2-4 and 7-9pm Wednesday. Funeral services will be held 2pm Thursday from the First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton with Rev. Carolyn Nicholson presiding. Burial will take place at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
Donations in memory of Jean may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation of Nova Scotia.
