Obituary of Joseph Joe'' Bonin

Joseph Ambrose "Joe" Bonin - 74, of New Minas, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Poirierville, on Isle Madame, Cape Breton, he was a son of the late Cornelius and Florence (LeJeune) Bonin. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces, having been stationed in Germany. Joe also worked in Toronto and moved home to Nova Scotia, where he worked at Michelin for 16 years. He then drove transport trucks all over Canada and the United States until he retired. Joe enjoyed travelling with kids to hockey and baseball games when Scott was young. He also enjoyed his daily visits to Tim Horton’s with his buddies, Darrell, Leo and other friends. He loved bowling and in later years, reading. Joe and Elaine’s favorite pastime was visiting the casinos in Halifax and Moncton on special occasions. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 48 years, Elaine (Marshall); only son, Scott (Darlene), Sackville; two grandchildren, Jeffery and Amanda; two sisters, Gladys (Jack) Edwards, Winnipeg; Shirley LeBlanc, Meaford, ON; five sisters-in-law, Janet, ON; Violet, Port Royal, Isle Madame; Lillian, Poulamon, Isle Madame; Loreen, ON; Florence, Truro; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by six brothers, Frankie, Gus, Negal, Don, Leon, Raymond and Viola. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2016 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Visitation will also be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2016 in the H. W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens, Westville. Donations in memory may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses or the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.
