Obituary of Wendy Leah Sutherland

Wendy Leah Sutherland, Springville: Wendy Leah Sutherland, 54 slipped away peacefully Sunday, October 23 in Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow she was a daughter of the late Erskine and Evelyne Sharpe. Wendy was a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church, Sunny Brae where she taught Sunday School for many years as well as helped with bible school. Wendy enjoyed her crafts, especially knitting, plastic canvas, and crocheting. She was a devoted babysitter to many children. Wendy enjoyed nothing more than her grandchildren, family gatherings, and sitting around the table talking over tea and coffee with her family and friends. In earlier years, she looked forward to spending her summers at Harbour Lights Campground with her "summer" friends and family and in her later years at the family cottage at Melmerby Beach. Married for 32 years, she will be dearly missed by her husband J. Robert H. Sutherland; daughter Christa (Brad) DeYoung, New Glasgow; son David (Vicki) Sutherland, Scotsburn; daughter Carrie Sutherland (Evan), Springville; six grandchildren; Taylor, Shelby, Sara, Jamie, Austin, and Noah. Also surviving are sister Sharon (Alex) MacDonald, Sunny Brae; brothers Lindsay (Sadie) Sharpe, Springville; Wally Sharpe (Patty), Prince George, BC; sisters-in-law Elliot (Arne) Paus Jenssen, Saskatchewan; Elizabeth Sutherland, New Brunswick; aunts Kaye Sharpe, Marion (Roy) Kenny, Lorraine (Kevin) MacDougall, Helen Sharpe, Doreen Sharpe, Clifford (Eleanor) Sharpe; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins; special daughters and son Cheryl, Nicole, and Dale. Besides her parents she was predeceased by a son Colby; brothers Bernie and Kevin Sharpe; father-in-law J.R. Harry Sutherland; sister-in-law Marcia Sabowitz; aunts Audrey (Donald) Cameron; Verda Jollimore; uncles Odis, Nick , Park, Dean (Gloria) and Lester Sharpe. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Thursday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday in Calvin Presbyterian Church, Sunny Brae with Rev. Gail Johnson-Murdock officiating. Burial will be in the Springville Cemetery.
