Catherine Evelyn Fraser, 93, passed away peacefully with family at her side, October 23, 2016 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in French River, she was a daughter of the late Marguerite(Foote) and William Hingley. She lived in MacPherson's Mills with her husband Herbie for many years before moving to Vale Mountain View Seniors Complex, Thorburn. Catherine enjoyed knitting, baking, reading and visiting with her family and many friends. She was a dedicated community volunteer throughout her life. She was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn and a member of the choir for many years. She was recently recognized by the Dorcas Rebekah Lodge #42 for sixty-five years of service. She was also a member of the Atlantic Missionary Society and the Ladies Guild and the Women's Institute of MacPherson's Mills. She is survived by sons Bill (Debbie) Truro, Alex (Wilma) Lower Sackville, daughter Rita, Halifax, grandchildren Samantha (Josh), Halifax and Greg, Dartmouth, sisters in-law Daisy Hingley, Truro and Amelia Fraser, Sutherlands River, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband Herbert Fraser, brother Cecil Hingley, grandaughter Karen Fraser, brother-in-law Gilbert Fraser, and brother in-law Harry Fraser and wife Greta. Her remains will rest at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow for visiting from 2-4pm and 7-9pm Tuesday October 25, 2016. Funeral services will be held 2pm Wednesday October 26, 2016 at the Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn with Rev. Jeff Lackie presiding. Burial in MacPherson’s Mills Cemetery.
