Obituary of Donald H. Vance

VANCE, DONALD, H. We are saddened to announce the passing of our father, born September 11, 1924. Donald was a former coal miner and retired from Michelin Tire in 1989. He was a retired elder and member of the Union Presbyterian Church, member of the Hudson Lodge #77 and one of the founding members of the Thorburn Fire Department. Survived by his sons; Richard (Janet), Foxbrook; John (Anne Louise), New Glasgow; daughters; Tena (Jack) Darroch, Whitby, Ontario; Donna (Doug) Ehler, Thorburn; Connie (Brent) Murdock Stewiacke; 17 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Predeceased by his loving wife of 70 years Sarah, his parents Sadie and Henry Vance; sisters; Margaret MacLeod, Dora Pettigrew, Rose Shea; brothers; Bert, John and Lester; grandchildren; Frank, Billy and Cathy. Resting at the H. W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow with visitation on Wednesday, September 28 at 2–4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral will be at Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn on Thursday, September 29th at 11:00 am. Burial will be in the Thorburn Cemetery. Donations made be made in Donald’s memory to the Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn, NS.
