VANCE, DONALD, H. We are saddened to announce the passing of our father, born September 11, 1924. Donald was a former coal miner and retired from Michelin Tire in 1989. He was a retired elder and member of the Union Presbyterian Church, member of the Hudson Lodge #77 and one of the founding members of the Thorburn Fire Department. Survived by his sons; Richard (Janet), Foxbrook; John (Anne Louise), New Glasgow; daughters; Tena (Jack) Darroch, Whitby, Ontario; Donna (Doug) Ehler, Thorburn; Connie (Brent) Murdock Stewiacke; 17 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Predeceased by his loving wife of 70 years Sarah, his parents Sadie and Henry Vance; sisters; Margaret MacLeod, Dora Pettigrew, Rose Shea; brothers; Bert, John and Lester; grandchildren; Frank, Billy and Cathy. Resting at the H. W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow with visitation on Wednesday, September 28 at 2–4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral will be at Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn on Thursday, September 29th at 11:00 am. Burial will be in the Thorburn Cemetery. Donations made be made in Donald’s memory to the Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn, NS. Hudson Masonic Lodge will meet at the funeral home at 6:45 pm on Wednesday to conduct their service. www.angusfuneralhomes.com
