August 24, 2016. Latter, Kenneth Melvin, 60 of Meiklefield, Pictou County passed away August 23, 2016 at St Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in New Glasgow he was a son of Adeline(Wallace)Latter and the late Frank Latter. Kenneth spent most of his married life residing in Meiklefield, and his earlier years in Thorburn where he grew up. He was a former employee of Maritime Steel in New Glasgow where he worked for over 30 years, having worked for the Department of Transportation prior to that. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying nature, gardening, hiking, hunting, fishing as well as an interest in the mystical/spiritual side of life. He is survived by his wife the former Karen Rhyno, Meiklefield; a daughter Allison(Bob)Baillie, Trenton; a son Zack(Holly), MacPherson’s Mills; grandchildren: Jesse, Chase and Cara Latter; Josie, John and Anna Baillie; brothers: Donnie(Debbie), Priestville; Michael(Kathy), Glace Bay; Alan(Linda), MacPherson’s Mills; a sister Jean MacLeod, New Glasgow; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father. Cremation to take place. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9pm Friday at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where a memorial service will be held 10:30am Saturday with Rev. Aidan Kingsbury presiding.
