Obituary of Thomas Owen MacLellan

Tommy MacLellan, 51, passed away suddenly on August 22, 2016 in Rhode Island. A resident of Sutherlands River, Pictou County, he is survived by mother Patricia "Patsy" (née Clarkin); siblings, John (Beth), Robert (Beverlee), Joey (Shawna), Anne MacLeod (Norman), James Olding, Charles, Rosemary (Derek Clermont); many beloved nieces and nephews; as well as extended family in Nova Scotia and Rhode Island. He was p redeceased by father Grant. He is also survived by lifelong friends and poker buddies, Stanley McKeeman, Wally Chow, Barrie Milne and Jamie Foote. A professional craftsman and carpenter, his talent with woodworking was appreciated by family and friends. An avid kayaker, he enjoyed camping excursions and exploring Nova Scotia’s waterways. Tommy served many years as a Reservist with the 1st Battalion Nova Scotia Highlanders. His precocious wit, humility, generosity, mischievous smile, and dedication to his parents, family and close friends will be treasured by all those who knew and loved Tommy. Friends may pay their respects at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home in New Glasgow on Monday, August 29 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, from where a funeral service will take place on Tuesday, August 30 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation (Tim Horton Children’s Camp) or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
