Obituary of Murdock Stewart MacLean

Murdock Stewart MacLean, age 71 of AbercrombieNS passed away February 28, 2016 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Charlottetown, PEI he was a son of the late Chester and Marion (Stewart) MacLean. The family moved to Cape Tormentine, NB where he graduated from PortElginRegionalMemorialSchool in 1963. After graduation, he moved to Marathon, Ontario where he worked for the American Can Company Pulp Mill. Murdock and Ann married in 1967 and then moved to PictouCounty where Murdock began working at Scott Maritimes Limited until his retirement in 2002. Murdock was an avid car enthusiast and spent many hours cleaning and detailing them but enjoyed the fastest ones most. He was also a member of Keith Lodge No. 23 Stellarton. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Ann, Abercrombie; daughter Shannon MacLean, Egypt Road; son Murdock J., Halifax; two cherished grandsons Ben MacLean and Brandyn Benjamin; sister Beverley Rivest (Al), Toronto; brother-in-law & sister-in-law Karl and Rena Hukkala, Springville, several nieces and a nephew and long time best friend Toby Dunbar, Abercrombie. The family would like to thank Dr. Gerry Farrell, Rhonda Langille RN and the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit, as well as the many VON nurses that made Murdock's stay at home possible. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. There will be no funeral service by request.
