Obituary of Florence Ives

Stellarton; Florence Maude Ives (Smith) of Stellarton passed away on Sunday , Feb14th ,2016 at the AberdeenHospital ,with family by her side. Born in Eureka on September 23 ,1928 , she was the last surviving member of her siblings. In her earlier years she worked in different retail settings as well as being an instructor for Weight Watchers. Flo was very busy within her church community ,(First Presbyterian Church ,Stellarton) serving as president of the MacLellan-Fraser A.M.S.Group for many years. Currently she was a member of the A.M.S. Youth Group and the Ladies Guild. Along with participating in the Cursillo Group and the Rebekah Lodge , she also gave freely of her time to CampGeddie. Flo was an avid quilter ,seamstress and enjoyed knitting beautiful baby keepsakes for all of her grandchildren . Her cottage on SinclairIsland held a special place in her heart ,providing many beautiful memories with family and friends. Flo is survived by her children ,Brian (Elizabeth) , Joanne , John(Tammy) and Jean all of Nova Scotia Her grandchildren Matthew (Amber) ,Mark (Ashley) ,Cory , T-Anna , Adam ,Alex and Gavin Two active great grandchildren Tessa and Mia who brought joy to their Nan A sister-in-law ,Nora Numerous nieces and nephews who share fond memories. Flo was predeceased by her husband David Hugh and a daughter ,Barbara Pearl Visitation will take place on Tuesday ,Feb 16th from 7-9 P.M. in the H.C.MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel , Stellarton. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday Feb 17th at 2:30 P.M. from the First Presbyterian Church , Foord Street , Stellarton with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating.
