In Loving Memory of Joel Vincent Sexton

February 5, 1984 – August 17, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we remember Joel Vincent Sexton, who passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026, in the ICU at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, with his loving family by his side.

Joel was born on February 5, 1984, at Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. He attended New Glasgow High School and later worked at Acropole Pizza in New Glasgow.

Joel was a wonderful, loving, and caring person with a kind and gentle soul. He always put others before himself and cared deeply for his family and those around him.

One of Joel’s greatest passions was his love for God. He devoted much of his time to studying the Bible, Holy Scriptures, and theology. His faith was an important part of his life and brought him great meaning and purpose.

Joel also had a passion for working out and bodybuilding. He enjoyed training and learning about bodybuilding, and his favourite bodybuilder was Dorian Yates. He also enjoyed playing guitar and watching hockey, especially his favourite team, the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Joel was the beloved son of Judy Murray and his late father, Irwin Sexton. He was a loving brother to his four sisters: Sarah Patterson (Byron), Priscilla Fraser (Michael), Rebecca Sexton (Long), and Monica Sexton, who reside in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. He was also a cherished uncle to 11 nieces and nephews.

Joel’s kindness, faith, loving heart, and caring spirit made him truly special. He will forever be remembered through the memories he created and the love he shared.

Though he is no longer with us, Joel will never be forgotten. His memory will live on forever in the hearts of his family and everyone who loved him, both near and far.

Visitation

Visitation will be held at H.W. Angus Funeral Home, 256 King Street, New Glasgow, NS, on Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 10:00–11:00 a.m. Funeral service will begin at 11 am in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel with Father Godwin Kalu presiding.

Burial will follow at Auburn Cemetery in Westville, NS.

Donations may be made in Joel’s memory to the ICU at Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
