It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Darren Robert Rector on June 19th, 2026.

Darren was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia on December 29th 1981, Son of Bruce Rector of Alysford,NS and Sharon Murray (Kevin Chase) of Briggs Corner, NB.

Darren is survived by his daughter Kayla Rose (Andres Saldarriaga) of Red deer, Alberta and son Ryan Rector (Maggie McMillan) of Aylesford. 

Brother, Jeff Rector (Krystal) of Coldbrook. Sisters, Amie Tower(Johnathan) of Halifax and Jenna Chase (Caleb Knox) of Briggs Corner, NB. Also his chosen brother, Shaun MacKenzie (Kathy) of Kingston.

He is also survived by his grandchildren Adrian, Elizabeth, and Thiago of Red Deer, Alberta. His nephews Nathan, Matthew, and Johnny and niece, Annabelle. He will also be missed by his Aunt Joyce and Uncle Bobby, whom he considered his second parents. 

Darren is also survived by his maternal Grandmother, Gale Nicholson of Fredericton, NB and his paternal Grandmother Shirley Rector of Thorburn. 

He was predeceased by his paternal Grandparents, Mona and Norman Rector of Thorburn and Grandfather James Rector.

Darren is also survived by many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins in Pictou County. 

Darren was dearly loved by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He always had a warm hug and a big smile for everyone he met, leaving a lasting impression through his kindness and genuine heart.

Darren proudly served in the military as an MSE-OP (Trucker) before continuing his career at the Michelin Plant in Waterville, Nova Scotia. He was a hardworking and compassionate man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

He found joy in life’s simple pleasures — being outdoors, fishing, yard work, listening to music, and tending to his garden. Above all else, Darren treasured the time he spent with his family. He will be deeply missed and forever held in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home in New Glasgow, NS on Friday, June 26th from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. 

Funeral service will be on Saturday, June 27th at 10:00 am in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel with the burial to follow at Thorburn Cemetery.
