John "Keith" Cruickshank, of New Glasgow, passed away peacefully in the Aberdeen Hospital on May 31, 2026, with family by his side.

Keith, as he was known by, was born in Caledonia on December 25, 1940.  He was one of three sons of Kenneth and Laura (Cameron) Cruickshank. Keith spent his working days of over 40 years hauling pulp wood across Nova Scotia. Keith loved to go to old time dances on Saturday nights with the love of his life and best friend Shirley, two-stepping across many dance floors with their friends. When not working on the trucks at the family garage, Keith enjoyed spending weekends camping with family.  

After spending most of their life in Caledonia, Keith and Shirley moved to New Glasgow in retirement where they enjoyed entertaining their grandchildren and great-grand children, bowling, meals at the East Side Family Restaurant and taking long drives on old country roads.

Along with his parents, Keith is predeceased by his 2 brothers Grant and Myron and grandson Joshua. Keith is survived by and will be forever missed by his wife Shirley (MacDonald), son Daryl (Herb), daughter Lynn (Garnet) and son Bradley, as well as Keith's grandkids, great-grandkids and the many other special people in his life.    

Keith's family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Adam Sheppard for his wonderful care. Special thanks to the Palliative Care unit at the Aberdeen Hospital for their compassion and kindness. 

Cremation to take place. Visitation will be held on Thursday June 4th 2026 from 6-9pm at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Friday June 5th at 11am in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel. Burial service to follow at the Caledonia Cemetery.
