James "Jimmy" Fraser Obituary
Fraser, James Alexander of Whitecourt, Alberta, formerly of McPherson's Mills, Nova Scotia passed away January 20, 2026 after a tragic highway accident.
Jimmy was born on December 12, 1960, to George and Helen (MacDiarmid) Fraser in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. Jim was a woodsman all his life, learning the craft as a young boy with the guidance of his father. Jim did a short stint working for the Department of Transportation and a few road construction crews but eventually returned to the career he loved.
The deepest love in Jim's life was his wife of 44 years, Maureen (Chace) Fraser and their three children James, Crystal and George.
Jim was the type of guy that if you needed help and asked for it, he was there. Jim would go out of his way to help family and friends. Jim's superpower was that he made connections. He would love to talk to people on the phone or if he seen you. he would stop and chat. He had special connections to his nephews and nieces and they could share some stories. While in Alberta his extended family were his work buddies from the owner down to administration to the guys that worked the forest floor with him.
Aside from his parents, Jim was predeceased by his children James, Crystal and George, his in laws William and Lorraine (Homan) Chace, sister- in- law Anne (Chace) Bayer and Brian Bayer, brothers in law Stephen Cholmondeley, Clifford Chace, Steven Chace, Gary Slack, and Gary Stroud; great niece Mia Cholmondeley-Mackay.
Jim is survived by his wife, Maureen (Chace) Fraser, sister Isabel Cholmondeley, sister Becky and Bill Chace; sisters in law Kathy Slack, Cindy Chace and Josephine Chace.
Jim will be greatly missed by all who knew him and the connections he made in his personal life and in the logging industry.
Special thanks to the first responders, paramedics, the angels on STARS, the RCMP, the staff at Double B Logging and family friend Steven Ottar.
Visitation will be held at the H. W. Angus Funeral Home (256 King St. New Glasgow, NS) on June 19 from 6-9pm.
