Mary Dorothy “Dot” (Fraser) Chisholm, 97, Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of Linacy, passed away peacefully on April 12th, 2026.

Born and raised in the Garden of Eden, she was the daughter of the late John James Fraser and Barbara Jane (Inglis) Fraser. 

She was a volunteer with Lady’s Auxiliary at Linacy Fire Department, and an active member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, rug hooking, berry picking, card parties and making biscuits. In her younger years she worked as a housekeeper, and as a seamstress at WearWell Garments.

Besides Linacy, her second home was her cottage at Black Point, where she enjoyed many summers. Dot will always be remembered as a kind and caring woman who held a deep love for her family and friends. 

Surviving are her daughters, Joyce Chisholm, and Donna (Bryce) Thompson; grandsons, Blair Thompson,  Andrew (Adrienne) Thompson, and Stuart Thompson; great-grandson, Carter Thompson; sisters-in-law, Catherine MacCulloch and Mary Fraser; nephews Ritchie (Heather) MacInnis, Royce (Kevin) McInnis, and John Andrew Fraser; and niece Susie Fraser. Numerous nieces and nephews on her husband’s side. 

Besides her parents, Dot was predeceased by her husband of 68 years Arnold Chisholm, sisters Jessie (Walter) MacInnis, Joyce in infancy, brothers John, Calvin and Andrew Fraser. 

The family will receive visitors 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 15th at H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 16th at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow with Rev. Dr. Joon Ki Kim officiating. Following the funeral, there will be a reception in the church hall. Interment will be in Moose River Cemetery, Moose River.

For the last years of her life, she loved being called Dottie and enjoyed her days at Valley View Villa. Dottie loved the staff and we thank them for their care, love and attention. 

Donations may be made in Dorothy’s memory to the Moose River Cemetery, Valley View Villa Recreation Fund, and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.
