In loving memory of Mary Jane MacLeod (nee Chisholm).

Mary, a cherished member of our family passed away on March 23, 2026.

Her departure has left a profound void in the lives of those who knew and loved her. While our hearts are heavy with grief, we take solace in the memories of a remarkable person whose presence touched our lives.

Born on March 7, 1930 and raised in Elgin NS, Mary brought joy and warmth into the world. Throughout her life she demonstrated resilience, compassion, and an unyielding spirit that inspired those around her. Mary graduated from Normal College (Teachers' College) in Truro N.S. and taught school for several years until the birth of her children.

She loved receiving visits from her grandchildren and they were the highlight of her life. Mary was known by her family for her delicious cooking and baking that she took great pride in sharing with us. Her hobbies included painting, making crafts, shopping, traveling,  and going to restaurants.

Mary is predeceased by her husband William Arthur (Bill) MacLeod and also her parents William Duncan Chisholm and Anna Chisholm (nee Smith).

She is survived by her children Jim (Linda) MacLeod and Margaret (Chuck) Murphy, also by her grand children and their spouses Michael (Julie) MacLeod,  Matthew (Carlie) MacLeod, Jeffery (Arius) MacLeod, Shea (Jennifer) Murphy,  Stephanie (Sebastian) Murphy,  Ashley (Jeremy) Murphy; and nine great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Dearly loved by her family, Mary possessed a remarkable ability to connect with others and her presence brightened any room she entered. She had a genuine interest in people and making everyone seen and valued, leaving a lasting impact on those fortunate to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and resilience that will be forever cherished. She will be deeply missed. Our lives are enriched by her presence and we will carry her memory in our hearts.

As we morn the loss of Mary, we also celebrate the remarkable life she lived. May her memory serve as a guiding light, inspiring us to embrace life with kindness, integrity, and unwavering spirit.

In honoring her memory, a memorial service will be held at a later date to pay tribute to the remarkable person she was.

May she find eternal peace and may her memory be a blessing to us all.
