Heather Joanne Manning Obituary
It is with profound sadness that the family of Heather Joanne Manning (Davison), age 77, announce her passing on March 21, 2026 at Valley View Villa, Riverton.
Born April 6, 1948, in Windsor, Heather was the daughter of the late Harold and Mary Aileen (Greenough) Davison and grew up on the family farm in Woodville, Hants County. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Terry Manning, just 8 short months ago. Together they built a life centered on family and community in Hopewell. His loss left an indelible mark on her heart.
Heather is survived by her children Aaron (Janice) Manning, Tiffany (Ian) MacNeil, and Ashlee (Amber) Manning; treasured grandchildren Broc and Tyson Manning, Katie, Alex, and Will MacNeil, and Garrett and Mitchell Manning. She will be deeply missed by her siblings Garnett (Judy) Davison, Wendell (Diane) Davison, Wanda (Dave) Winaut, and Roddy (Tracy) Davison as well as sisters- and brothers-in-law Richard (Wanda) Manning, Rodney (Sandy) Manning, and Hartford (Karin) Manning and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Registered Nurse by profession, Heather dedicated her career tending to others. She finished her working years caring for those in need at Valley View Villa. Outside of her vocation, Heather was deeply committed to 4-H. First as a member herself in Hants County and later as a sewing and general leader of the Hopewell 4-H Club. She held leadership roles at the county level including chairing the Steering Committee to host the 1989 4-H Provincial Show in Pictou County. A faithful member of St. Columba Church and the UCW, Heather gave generously to her church and community. Never idle, she was a gifted knitter, seamstress, baker, gardener and quilter. Her handmade quilts, sewing or knitted articles remain treasured items by all her family.
Above all, Heather was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose greatest joy was supporting her family in all their interests and pursuits. Her kindness, quick wit, generosity, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are under the direction of H. W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 25 2-4 and 7-9. Service will be held at St. Columba United Church in Hopewell at 11 am on Thursday, March 26.
Family flowers only. Donations may be made to either St. Columba United Church or the Hopewell 4-H club.
