It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Michael Allan MacNeil, age 67 in Kingston ON, on March 7th, 2026, due to complications from Diabetes.

Michael (Mike) was born on May 10, 1958, to the late Mike and Ev MacNeil of New Glasgow. Mike resided in New Glasgow and later Stellarton NS, before moving to Kingston ON in 2019.

Michael worked at the Trenton Car Plant and held various other jobs throughout the years. At the time of his passing, he was employed by the Ontario Medical Supply; a position he absolutely loved.

Michael enjoyed sports, with hockey being his favorite. He played for the New Glasgow Bombers growing up and was indicted into the Pictou County Hall of Fame on Oct 19, 2019 as part of the 1986-87 Stellarton Junior C hockey team. In later years he enjoyed a game of golf with his buddy John Lafferty.  Michael also enjoyed attending gigs that his son Fraser would play as guitarist for the band “No Limits”.

Michael is survived by sons Allan MacNeil Stellarton NS, Fraser MacNeil (Charity Wells) Sydenham ON, and two beautiful granddaughters Elizabeth and Victoria MacNeil.

Michael holds a special place in the heart of Mary Lou Shortall, Seely Bay ON, her son Phil (Robyn), their children Chyene and Sawyer, and Mary Lou’s daughter Michelle (Adam) and their children Maimie, Martha and Sadie.

Michael will be sadly missed by his five sisters Margie (Gary) Webb, Mary Priest (George), Anne Dewtie, Helen “Sis” MacNeil (Ken), Barbara Smith (Lawrence) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Michael was predeceased by his parents Mike & Ev MacNeil, brothers-in-law John Fraser, Francis Smith, Alvin Priest, Seymore Dewtie, and the mother of his boys Jane (Fraser) MacNeil.

A Celebration of Life will take place this Friday, March 20 from 1-4PM at Branch 28, Royal Canadian Legion, Stellarton, downstairs.

Private interment of ashes will take place at a later date.
