Mildred Theresa Dewar age 91 formerly of Marshy Hope passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026 in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Born in James River she was a daughter of the late Charles and Georgie (Pushie) MacLean.
Mildred was a lifelong resident of Marshy Hope. She was a member and Elder of the Barney’s River - Marshy Hope Presbyterian Charge where she also served on the Board of Manager’s. Mildred was an avid quilter and knitter, she also enjoyed reading and cooking and was known to make great biscuits and jam that were shared by many who dropped in. Many children were welcomed in her house as she babysat for those in the area when the need arose.
Surviving are her children John, Jim, Donnie (Janet), Theresa ( late Dan), Betty (late Bob), Peggy (Karl Taylor), Tommy (Terri), Eric (Mandy), Alex (Michelle) 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren also a sister Ruth (Aidan) Kingsbury, brothers Douglas MacLean, Henry (Georgina) MacLean and Barry MacLean, several nieces and nephews. Sister-in-law Margaret (Jim) Bowie, brother-in-law Bill (Sheila) Dewar.
Mildred was predeceased by her husband Robert, sister Louise, and nephew Iain
Her remains will rest in the H.W.Angus Funeral Home 256 King Street, New Glasgow for visitation 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Thursday, March 5 from where funeral service will be held on Friday, March 6 at 11 A.M. with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating . Burial will be in Glen Bard Cemetery at a later date. A reception will follow the service in the funeral home.
Donations in memory of Mildred may be made to the Bethel Presbyterian Church, Marshy Hope or to the Glen Bard Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff for all the kindness and compassion shown to their mom while she was at Glen Haven Manor.
