Leitha Antoinette "Nell" Aikens Obituary

We are very saddened to announce the passing of Leitha Antoinette (Blair) Aikens on Feb 17,2026 in the Aberdeen Hospital with her family by her side.


Born Jan 3 ,1932 in New Glasgow to the late Frank and Nellie (Spence) Blair. Leitha, affectionately known as Nell, was well known for her one line jokes and always being happy go lucky, always laughing and enjoying the company of family and friends. She would go out of her way to help others. Nell felt very lucky to have such kind and loving neighbors. Most of all Nell cherished her grandchildren.


She is survived by daughter Phyllis (Fred) Peppard, sons Harold, Keith (Judy), grandchildren Kimberley McInnis, Scott (Joni) McInnis) Tanya Aikens (Kevin Wood), Graham (Danielle)Aikens, Colin (Marcie) Aikens and many great grandchildren.


Leitha was predeceased by her husband Harold “Buddy ”Aikens, daughter Marie Edwards, brothers Arnold Blair, William MacDonald and sisters Gwendolyn Davison and Anita MacAulay.


Her remains will rest at the H.W.Angus Funeral Home ,256 King Street, New Glasgow for visitation on Friday Feb 20th  from 1-3pm with funeral service to follow at 3pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Doug Pillsworth officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later date.


Family flowers only please, donations may be made to the SPCA or to a charity of one’s choice.


The family would like to thank the paramedics ,doctors and nurses of the E.R for their compassion and help.
