Marshall Doyle Obituary

It is with deep sadness that the family of Andrew Marshall Doyle, 87, Plymouth, announce his peaceful passing, Tuesday, January 27, 2026 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.

Born on October 22, 1938, he was the oldest child of the late Isabel and William Doyle. Marshall spent the last 30 years of his working career as the Manager of Superior Propane in Alma, Pictou County. A founding member of the Plymouth Fire Department, he was an active member for 45 years prior to retirement.

One of his claims to fame was the private’s pilot license he had obtained through his time with Air Cadet’s – this claim was most often followed by the story of the time that he crash landed the plane he was flying into a farm field in New Brunswick. Safe to say Marie never went for a flight with him in the cockpit.

An avid curler in his day, Marshall curled with the Stellar Curling Club out of Stellarton, a passion he passed onto his sons. Throughout the years Marshall and his sons operated Doyle Farm, a cow/calf operation. During this time, he served on the board, and had a stint as Chair, of the Cape John Community Pasture. Board meetings often took place around the kitchen table at the farmhouse, with Marie’s tasty treats being a key part of each meeting. Later, after dispersing his herd, Marshall’s attention shifted to draft horses, purchasing two of his own: Major and Monty. Together they worked the fields, gave sleigh rides to the grandkids and neighbours, and were a feature in the Westville’s Canada Day parade.

A man who had a joke for every occasion, every visit, and every phone call – many often wondered how he was able to remember them all.

Lovingly known as “Papa” to his grandchildren, Marshall is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marie; sons, Donnie (Susan) Doyle, Lower Sackville; Allan (Wanda), New Glasgow; Jim (Stephanie), Tatamagouche; daughter-in-law, Alison Doyle, Enfield; grandchildren, Tyler (Miranda) Euloth, Katherine (Tim) Tuttle, Kevin (Alyssa) Doyle, Connor Doyle; great-grandchildren, Carlyn and Nolan Euloth, Wren Tuttle.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters: Anne and Phyllis Doyle; son, Robert Doyle.

The family would like to thank the nursing team from VON Pictou County, especially the night nurses Crystal B, Crystal M, Jamie, and Keltie. As well as the nurses at the Aberdeen Hospital, and Dr. Jota for all their help and care.

A celebration of life  will be held at the Plymouth Fire Hall on February 14th from 2-4 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the following: Palliative Care at the Aberdeen Hospital, VON Pictou County, and the Plymouth Fire Department.
