James William MacDonald Obituary

We are saddened to announce the passing of our dad and brother James William “Bill” MacDonald, 92 on January 23, 2026 in the Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow.  Dad was born in New Glasgow, the eldest child of Sinclair and Bessie (Snell) MacDonald. He grew up in Parkdale before moving to Trenton to raise his family.


In the early years dad worked in the construction industry and later at Trenton Works.


He is survived by daughters, Susan (Peter Mahoney) and Janet (Curtis) Purdy; son Carl; grandchildren Derek, Christa and Katelynn; great grandchildren; sister Marita MacDonald; nieces and nephews.


He is also survived by Hazels’s children, Brian (Eileen), Debbie (Al), Micheal (Beth), Lenore (Jeff); grandchildren and great grandchildren.


He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Faye (the mother of his children); son Paul;  sister and brother-in- law Myrtle (Gordon) Murray; sister Margie Martin and brother Donald, wife Hazel; her daughter and  son-in-law Ellen and John MacDonald.


The family wishes to thank the staff at the Glen Haven Manor for the care and compassion given to Dad and our family.


Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.


Family burial will be at the Springville cemetery at a later date.
